A Google funded energy efficiency start-up has a great idea when it comes to green energy and much more preferable over installing a big solar panel system on roofs across residential neighborhoods.
There are actually much less exciting albeit more energy efficient methods to make our country green and Transphorm seems to be a great example of how to do this.
What this company does is to make power conversion less wasteful. The CEO of Transphorm makes energy conversion more efficient by studying ways to reduce waste when converting an energy fuel like natural gas or coal into electricity.
About 10 % of electric power is lost during the process of converting power from a raw energy commodity to electricity power.
A part of this loss in electricity is also because of line losses and congestion when electric power is transmitted over power lines.
By conserving the energy lost from converting raw fuel commodities to electric power the US and the rest of the world could save more energy than what is currently being conserved through wind and solar power.
Because of the funding and support this company has been getting from companies like Google it appears that the US government and greenies have really jumped the gun on solar and wind being the solution to the nations energy problems.
I support the idea of improving existing energy infrastructure in lowering power loss over paying $50,000 per household for a residential off-grid solar system that would take 50 years to recoup the investment in.
The company CEO, Umesh Mishra, claims that the US alone could save about $40 billion dollars a year.
Considering that this company could help in drastically improving the environment in the US and all the money that will be saved in energy costs I fully support this company and see this as a very good investment for those allowed to participate in funding rounds.
