NextEra owns popular electricity providers like Gexa Energy and Florida Power and Light. They were also named Number 1 overall among electricity and gas utility companies for the 5th year in a row.
This energy provider has a total of 15,000 employees and operates as a natural monopoly in Florida. NextEra has a very successful retail electric supplier in Texas by the name of Gexa Energy.
NextEra Energy has been given this award for the 5th consecutive time which is considered to be unprecedented in the electric utility industry.
NextEra Energy was also named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index of leading electricity utilities in North America for corporate sustainability in both 2010 and 2009.
This large utility was also given the award of “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by Ethisphere magazine in 2010.
Fortune magazine gave the designation to NextEra Energy as one of the top 10 most innovative companies in the world.
NextEra still holds its No. 1 ranking for innovation within its energy utility industry sector in 2011.

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC is the umbrella company that owns multiple affiliated entities in the energy industry throughout the US and Canada.
They are the largest generator in North America of renewable energy from the wind and sun.
Florida Power & Light Company is their largest natural monopoly electric utility and is located in Florida with a division known as Gexa Energy in Texas.
FP&L serves approximately 4.5 million customer accounts in Florida and is one of the largest rate-regulated electric companies in the USA.
Considering FP&L started out as a rate-regulated natural electric utility they have done very well since states began deregulating electricity markets.
As Florida Power and Light participated in energy deregulation by expanding into states like Texas they did not forget to play above the board in regards to ethical advertising and clean energy generation.
When FP&L bought Gexa Energy and began to play the deregulation game they continued to remain a highly ethical and socially responsible energy utility rather than succumb to greed, environmental pollution, and false advertising as do some of their competitors.
